I stopped watching it about 10 years ago. The ‘woke' was getting really bad then… along with bad acting and bad scripts.

I remember an episode of EastEnders about 12 years ago. They randomly introduced five characters in to the show, something like an asian family (muslim), someone in a wheelchair, a dwarf, a black guy etc. All shows in the West now arent thinking about entertainment, they are thinking purely about social and political issues, most of which have the theme of being anti-white, anti-heterosexual, anti-tradition and so on. Essentially soap operas which were about representing the white working class through social realism have turned their back on their audience.

I've never seen coronation street since 1973. Charles Lawson is a first class actor, watch him on stage or in Harry's game. Linda Robson in Harry's game is first class, she had a great Belfast accent. Plus Derek Thompson as the provo gunman.

Its sad becuase I LOVED the show when it had the good storylines like aadi and kelly, ninas attack, the halloween event etc. Now I barely watch it cause its just dull and boring with good characters leaving or being killed off and too many repetitive storylines. Hope it comes back with the joy and comedy it had before 😞

Charlie Lawson is the best. Grew up watching him in numerous productions. My favourite was Trigger in The Firm.

I stopped watching Coronation Street years ago, but I remember so many memorable characters - Fred Elliott, Reg Holdsworth, Norris Cole, Maud Grimes, Curly Watts, Les Battersby etc. I stopped watching when they tried to introduce new characters as "sex symbols" stripped to the waist, etc. Corrie was about real life, and was noted for its humour. It didn't need to be sexed up to attract younger viewers.

Talk about PC. The few mild swear words he used in this interview are blanked out.

If you watch the series from the 1980's and 90's it had laughs, (Jack going on a nude live art model job) characters, good scripts and didn't use it as a vehicle to lecture you! Not watched it since late 90's

Stories are the same on most soaps, stories go on too long, no humour very boring.
